Ashram trailer: Bobby Deol dons role of a self-styled guru

Bollywood actor Bobby Deol is all set to debut on a digital platform this month with his new release Aashram. In a trailer launched today, the 51-year-old actor was seen as a self-styled guru, preaching to his devotees.
Directed by veteran filmmaker Prakash Jha, the two minute trailer portrays a self-styled guru, Baba Nirala of Kashipur, who later becomes controversial. Doel is seen blessing lakhs of followers at congregations and he tells them, “Main aap sab ko moksh ki rah pe le ke jaaoonga (I will take you on the path of salvation).” Then, the trailer narrates how politicians show interest in him and his followers. The plot goes through some twists ~ reports of rape, murders, girl disappearane, police, all come into the frame. Overall, it appears to be a proper masala trailer.
Sharing the trailer on his official Instagram handle, Bobby wrote, “Bhakti ya Bhrashtachar? Aastha ya Apraadh? Kya hai yeh ‘Aashram’ ki kahaani? Jaanne ke liye Dekhiye #Aashram directed by #PrakashJha August 28, 2020 se only on @mxplayer (sic).”
The film will premiere on 28 August on MX Player. The series also features Chandan Roy Sanyal, Aaditi Pohankar, Darshan Kumaar and Adhyayan Suman in pivotal roles. Deol is also awaiting the release of his Netflix film, Class of 83, produced by Shah Rukh Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment.
